Mammogram with surgical marker

Mammography

Early detection of breast cancer improves the outcome and survival of the disease. Many countries have breast cancer screening programs to identify personal risk factors and early stage cancers. Mammography is an effective screening tool for early signs of cancer. Recording a mammogram is a simple harmless medical imaging procedure using X-ray. The images are evaluated for abnormal tissue structures by experienced radiologists. Additional ultrasound images and breast MRI are recorded if the mammogram is abnormal.
